Security Study Finds that the Majority of Employees Routinely Violate Information Security Policies
A Ponemon survey released today has found that the majority of employees routinely violate corporate information security policies, and it’s getting worse. A survey of 1,000 corporate end users found that people routinely use unauthorized USB memory sticks to copy data, use personal unencrypted email from work, and download free applications and use them at work.
43 percent of users have lost or misplaced a portable device that holds company data, an increase from 39 percent in 2007.
A surprising 47 percent of employees admit to sharing passwords with their colleagues.
