The United Kingdom Ministry of Defense has started a major hunt for a laptop that was stolen from inside MoD offices. The very concerning issue is that an encryption key to unlock the data on the device was also stolen. For some reason, they were left together, rather than stored separately.
Shadow defence secretary Liam Fox told BBC News that the theft was ‘extremely worrying’. He said: “This goes way beyond the careless loss of a laptop or lapses in personal security that we have seen in recent times.”
